Occupation: Teacher and Coach
When did you first start CrossFit?
I started CrossFit in February 2013 and wish I would have started sooner.
What do you like most about CrossFit?
I love the community aspect of CrossFit, everyone pulling for and pushing each other to do better. If I had to do these workouts by myself there is no way I would stick with it. There are many times I want to just quit a workout but can’t because it would let everyone else down who is working so hard. In the end even though the WODs are really difficult its still fun and you have a sense of accomplishment when you are done.
My favorite movements are probably anything with a barbell like clean and jerk, snatch and deadlift, except for thrusters, those are pretty tough. I also like double-unders, pull-ups and am starting to like handstand pushups.
Do you have an interesting story about how CrossFit has impacted your life?
CrossFit has really filled a void in my life. I’ve always been into sports, I played 3 sports throughout high school and basketball in college. As I’ve gotten older those sports aren’t as fun as they used to be. CrossFit has provided the competition that I’ve been missing. Whether its competing against another athlete or just against myself its been great. Through CrossFit I’ve gotten in a lot better shape, I’ve lost a few pounds and I’ve been eating a lot healthier. I’ve quit drinking Mt. Dew about 11 months ago and I feel great. Another aspect of CrossFit is my wife is now involved and my kids love it. Overall its not just impacted me but my entire family is now healthier because of CrossFit.
