When did you first start CrossFit?
I started doing CrossFit probably about 4 years ago. I had no idea what it was, I thought it was a TRX class. I have never considered myself an athlete so it is a good thing I didn’t know what this was. It was the hardest thing I had ever done physically, next to having a baby. I was immediately hooked. I have never stopped coming. I have met some of the best people I know through CrossFit. I have accomplished things physically that I never even knew existed.
What do you like most about CrossFit?
I love the incredible workout I get at CrossFit which has given me great results physically. I love the people. I love the support from the coaches and the people, again, some of the best people I know are at CrossFit. I love the fact that every day is different. I love learning something new at each class.
What is your favorite/least favorite movement?
I love doing cleans, not squat cleans though. I love knowing how much weight I am safely lifting to my chest, it never ceases to amaze me. Snatch balances are for sure my least favorite. There is no major reason, I just don’t care for them.
Do you have an interesting story about how CrossFit has impacted your life?
I used to be at the chiropractor often, sometime 2-3 times a week for lower back pain. My chiropractor encouraged me to get over to the health club to lift weights. I started doing that with his guidance. I started getting stronger and seeing him less often. When I tried CrossFit, I found that I had a long way to go to be fit. I also learned so much in the olympic lifting that I was able to apply to my life. My back is seldom a problem anymore. I know how to lift things safely. I know that at the age of 50 I am keeping up with small children in my vocation. I stand taller and prouder because I CrossFit.
